All decking fitted by Critchleys Landscaping is built as an independent structure put together and set off the ground. Raising the decking can maximize life expectancy of the deck itself by allowing the wood to dry quicker slowing the inevitable process of rot. All the newel posts are also cemented into the ground for better stability. With the optional extra of a membrane put under the structure to stop weed growth.

Depending on your tastes and preferences decking designs can be discussed to your individual requirements. Timber recommended for this type of structure is a pressure treated soft or hard wood that comes with a manufactures guarantee of approximately 15 years but if you are willing to treat your decking structure every year then a cheaper option can be discussed.

All block paving for domestic driveways is excavated to 200mm below the finished block. A sub base layer is then placed down and a bedding layer for the blocks to sit on with a solid edging block set on a cement bed about 75mm thick. This will ensure that your driveway is hard wearing.

A membrane can be placed down at an additional cost but depending on the quality of the ground the driveway is being laid on it is not always necessary. Before any work is carried out pipe and cable detection ( CAT Scanning) is carried out so as to minimise the risk of pipe/cable rupture.
